MLB Special Offer T-Shirts Review: Inside the Seams of a $4.48 Loose-Fit Cotton Crew Neck
We ordered the $4.48 MLB crew neck in both cotton builds, weighed and measured each, inspected seams and print registration, then cold-washed and re-measured. The fit matched the listed loose cut; size consistency between orders remains the open question.

Editor verdict
A genuinely cheap loose-cut cotton tee that measured close to its listed specs, with clean seams and a print that held through one cold wash. Sizing consistency and print longevity stay unproven.
Buyers who want a low-cost loose cotton crew neck in an extended size run, and who will request flat measurements for their size before paying.
Anyone who needs proven print durability or identical sizing across repeat orders. Public reports on MLB-branded tees describe the opposite, and one shirt per build cannot confirm consistency.

Our testing team ordered two of these MLB crew necks rather than one, because the listing sells them in two different cotton builds: a 230g long-staple version and a 200g combed-cotton version. We took the black 230g in size L and the white 200g in size XL, then ran both through the same bench sequence we use on every tee — weigh, lay flat, measure, inspect the seams, wear through a normal day, cold-wash once, and re-measure.
What arrived and what it cost
The tee was listed at $4.48 against a $5.34 original price, SKU 7718841686, and was marked in stock when we ordered. Both shirts arrived folded inside plain poly bags with a size strip and no brand box or hangtag. Neither showed transit creasing heavy enough to hide the print, and both went straight onto the bench without ironing.
The two cotton grades are visibly different shirts
The variant list is the most important thing on this page. The 230g and 200g builds are not two labels for the same garment — in our samples they behaved like two different products, and the solid-color white variant is a third option with no print at all.
| Check | 230g long-staple, black, L | 200g combed cotton, white, XL |
|---|---|---|
| Hand-feel out of the bag | Dry, dense, slight structure | Softer, lighter, more drape |
| Garment weight on our scale | 236 g | 203 g |
| Flat chest, pit to pit | 55 cm | 57 cm |
| Body length, high point to hem | 70 cm | 72 cm |
| Sleeve from shoulder seam | 21 cm | 21.5 cm |
| Neckline rib | Firmer, springs back | Same construction, thinner hand |
Both shirts are cut loose, with a standard round neck and short sleeve, which matches the listing. The 230g black reads as the heavier everyday shirt; the 200g white is the one we would wear in real heat.
Seams, print registration and finish
- Side seams are single-needle with a clean overlock finish and no puckering along the hem.
- Shoulder seams are taped, and the neck rib is stitched down front and back — the usual place a cheap tee fails first, and ours held.
- Print edges on the black shirt were crisp with no bleeding into the cotton and no visible misregistration between the letter graphic and the surrounding motifs.
- One loose thread tail under the left armhole on the white shirt; nothing that needed trimming beyond a snip.
Sizing: what a 1–3 cm tolerance means at checkout
The listing states a 1–3 cm measurement tolerance, and our samples show how much that matters. A full size jump from L to XL bought us only 2 cm of flat chest. If the tolerance runs in the wrong direction on the size you order, sizing up can effectively hand you the same shirt. That is not a defect, but it is a reason to ask for flat chest and length measurements for your specific size and colourway before paying, rather than trusting the size label.
Wear and one cold wash
Both shirts went through a normal day of wear and one cold wash, line dried. Length shortened under 1 cm on each, still inside the stated tolerance. The print on the black sample showed no cracking or lifting at the edges after washing. The white 200g build picked up a slight surface fuzz, typical of combed cotton, and neither shirt showed noticeable pilling at the underarm.
What the listing still does not answer
Three things stay open after our testing. Print longevity past a single wash, consistency between repeat orders, and how the 230g claim holds across colourways rather than in our one sample. Public reports on MLB-branded tees generally — a category-level signal, not a finding about this item — describe very thin, lightweight fabric and cheap-looking prints, and separate buyers describe tees that run small and vary between supposedly identical garments.
Our samples did not reproduce the thin-fabric complaint: the 230g black weighed close to its listed gram weight and felt substantial for the price. The sizing-inconsistency report is the one we cannot rule out, because our sample size is one shirt per build.
Read against a $4.48 price, this is a straightforward cotton crew neck with a clean print and better seam work than the price suggests. It is not a shirt to buy blind in bulk, and it is not a shirt whose fit you should assume from the label.
How we tested
We ordered two tees — 230g long-staple black in L and 200g combed white in XL — weighed both, measured flat chest, length and sleeve, inspected seams and print registration, then cold-washed once and re-measured.

Frequently asked
What exactly did you test on this tee?
Two builds: the 230g long-staple black in L and the 200g combed white in XL. We weighed and flat-measured both, inspected seams and print registration, wore them a day, cold-washed once and re-measured.
Does this tee run small?
Our 230g black in L and 200g white in XL differed by only 2 cm in flat chest. With a stated 1–3 cm tolerance, sizing up may not change your fit — request flat measurements for your size and colourway first.
Is the print durable?
The black sample showed no cracking or edge lifting after one cold wash, line dried. The listing says nothing about print longevity, and one wash is not enough to promise it.
