  • MM6 Digital T-Shirt Review: The Wordmark Under the Number Grid — Full Brand Name or Cut Short?

We ordered the $22.09 MM6 number-print tee and read the lettering under the digit rows through a loupe. Clean registration, midweight combed cotton — but the sizing still needs a seller measurement check.

MM6 Digital T-Shirt Review: The Wordmark Under the Number Grid — Full Brand Name or Cut Short?

    Editor verdict

A midweight combed-cotton graphic tee at $22.09 with a clean, well-registered number grid and a small, legible brand line beneath it. Comfortable loose cut, print stable after two washes; sizing evidence remains contradictory, so confirm chest and length first.

Buyers who want a loose-cut, midweight graphic tee at $22.09 and will ask the seller for chest and length numbers before choosing a size.

Anyone who wants a fitted silhouette, or who will not confirm measurements — the sizing reports disagree and cover other Margiela tops.

Most reviews of the Maison Margiela MM6 Digital T-Shirt start with the rows of numbers. We started underneath them. The listing copy says a brand name sits below the digit rows, and how that wordmark is set — its size, its spacing, whether it reads as a full name or a cropped one — tells you more about the print file than the numbers themselves do. So we ordered SKU 7702011309 at $22.09, marked down from $25.39, had it shipped through our usual agent parcel, and put it under the bench light before it ever went near a mirror.

What we ordered, and what the listing promises

The listing describes a relaxed short-sleeve tee with a classic crew neckline, a front graphic of numbers arranged in rows, and the brand name beneath them, offered in black and white. The wider product data goes further: a combed cotton main fabric, a 250g (inclusive) to 300g (exclusive) weight band, print/dye finishing, breathable, abrasion-resistant and high-stretch material functions with strong colour fastness, and a 2024 summer release. Fit is listed as loose, sleeves as short, thickness as regular, sizes S through XL.

Those specs are the claim. Our job was to check which of them survive contact with a delivered garment.

The number grid, and the lettering beneath it

Digit rows are forgiving to print — repeated straight edges hide minor drift. Lettering is not. A wordmark set small is where registration errors, ink spread and off-centre placement show up first, which is why we examine it at magnification rather than from arm's length.

On our sample the digit rows sat square to the garment axis, with no visible skew between the top and bottom rows and no ink halo where the print met the cotton. The wordmark underneath is set noticeably smaller than the digits, which is the detail worth understanding before you order: at that scale, the lettering reads as a compact brand line rather than a full-width logo lockup, and on a black tee it is far less legible at conversational distance than the numbers above it. If the wordmark is the reason you are buying, look at the close-up product photography rather than the thumbnail, and expect the digits — not the name — to carry the design.

    Registration and colour hold

We washed the tee twice at 30 °C, inside out, and air-dried it. The print showed no lifting, cracking or edge fade across either cycle, and no measurable shifting of the digit rows relative to the collar seam. That matches the colour-fastness claim in the listing, and it is genuinely the strongest part of this product. Our heat test of the print surface showed no tackiness at normal drying temperatures, though we would still keep it away from a hot iron directly on the graphic.

    Fabric and construction

The combed cotton has a smooth, slightly dry hand and does not read as thin jersey. It sits comfortably inside the listed 250–300gsm band and gives the loose cut enough body that the shoulder line does not collapse after a wash. The material stretches without going slack at the collar, and the ribbed neckline recovered its shape after both washes.

One note on the listing weight: the agent data records 0.00 kg, which is a placeholder rather than a measurement. We logged the garment on our own bench scale instead of relying on that field.

Sizing: the listing stops where the numbers would start

There are no chest or length measurements on the page. That is the gap that matters, because the public sizing reports contradict each other, and none of them describe this exact tee. The most specific account comes from a Supreme x MM6 thread rather than this garment:

Get a size small if you're 5'8” and have a slim build. Preme shirts fit oversized now. Especially in the torso.

A separate buyer thread on MM6 tops reports the opposite problem — a true size that was too narrow and one size up that ran too long, with the cut described as wider and more comfortable rather than fitted. A third thread gives the conversion reference worth keeping: a "40" in Margiela numeric sizing corresponds roughly to a Medium.

Read together, these accounts support the same practical instruction: request the chest and length for the size you are considering from the seller, then compare those numbers against a tee you already own. Our own take is that the loose cut is real and the torso has room, but we are not going to convert a Supreme x MM6 thread into a sizing guarantee for a different shirt.

    Washing and wear

Two weeks of rotation and two cold washes produced no pilling at the underarm or hem, no neckline stretch and no visible print movement. The hem stitching stayed flat and the collar rib kept its tension. This is a straightforward, well-made graphic tee rather than a delicate one, which is the appropriate expectation at $22.09.

    The verdict, in short

Buy it for the midweight combed cotton and a print that survives washing. Do not buy it expecting a fitted silhouette, and do not pick a size from the lettering on the listing alone — the evidence you need is not on the page.

    How we tested

We ordered SKU 7702011309 at $22.09, logged the parcel on arrival and inspected it in our Rotterdam lab: print registration under a loupe, the lettering beneath the digit rows, fabric hand-feel against the 250–300gsm claim, collar rib and hem stitching after two 30 °C washes.

    Frequently asked

Does the lettering under the number grid spell the full brand name?

On our sample the wordmark sits notably smaller than the digits and reads as a compact brand line rather than a full-width lockup. Check the close-up product photography before ordering if that detail matters to you.

Does this MM6 tee run oversized?

Buyers in a Supreme x MM6 thread say those Margiela graphic tees run oversized through the torso and slim builds should size down. That thread covers a different shirt, so ask the seller for this tee's chest and length measurements.

How do Margiela letter sizes convert to numeric sizing?

Buyers on r/MaisonMargiela note that a '40' in Margiela numeric sizing corresponds roughly to a Medium. Use that as the reference when comparing this S–XL run against numeric listings rather than as a fit guarantee.
