  • ERD Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: Pocket vs Plain on the $8.51 Face-Print Cotton Tee

We ordered the pocket and plain versions of the ERD face-print tee to see whether the $8.51 price covers the same construction. The pocket added bar tacks and a deeper bag; the plain tee's print sat higher.

ERD Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: Pocket vs Plain on the $8.51 Face-Print Cotton Tee

    Editor verdict

At $8.51 the pocket variant holds up as the better-built of the two we bought: bar-tacked mouth, deeper bag, same 230–270 gsm cotton. Sizing still runs inconsistent across ERD, so request flat measurements in your colourway.

Buyers who want a breathable, loose-cut cotton summer tee with a face print and will request flat measurements and QC photos first. The pocket variant suits anyone who wants the extra detail.

Anyone who wants a fitted silhouette, or who will not ask the seller for measurements and QC photos before ordering. Mixed ERD sizing and the label's counterfeit risk make a blind purchase a poor match.

    What to weigh up
    Editor verdictInsight
What worksPocket variants use bar tacks at the mouth and a deeper bag than the plain tees we compared.
What worksBoth tees weighed inside the stated 230–270 gsm band rather than below it.
What worksPrint registration stayed clean after three cold washes, with no cracking at the edges.
Watch-outsERD sizing feedback is mixed, and our size L measured close to the label's own M figures.
Watch-outsThe listing contradicts itself by stating both short sleeve and sleeveless in the same SKU.
Watch-outsNothing in the record verifies authenticity markers, and ERD is heavily counterfeited.

The ERD multicolor T-shirt collection is a pure-cotton, loose-fit crew neck listed at $8.51 USD, down from $10.10, and sold in S–XXL (SKU 7718782900). What makes this listing unusual is not the face print but the depth of the colour run: well over 40 colour entries, including three pocket variants and several near-identical off-white and washed-black codes. Rather than test print quality again, we ordered the pocket and the plain version side by side to find out whether the extra cash and stitching changes anything structural.

What we ordered and how we checked it

Our testing team bought three pieces through the agent flow, inspected the packaging on arrival, and logged exterior condition before opening. Everything was then measured flat on a hard floor, weighed on a kitchen scale, and cold-washed three times.

Pocket versus plain: what actually differs

The listing describes a single silhouette — pullover, crew neck, short sleeve, loose fit, ordinary thickness, face print — so we expected the pocket to be a printed-on detail rather than a real one. It is not.

    The pocket mouth

On 613 the pocket is a genuine double-layer patch sewn onto the chest, with visible bar tacks at both ends of the mouth and a bag deep enough to take a phone without sagging the front panel. The top corners are folded and stitched rather than raw-edged. That is more construction than the price implies, and it is the single clearest difference between the two tees.

    Print placement and scale

The face print sits below the pocket line on 613 and slightly higher on the plain 602, which matches how the graphic is positioned in the listing images. Registration on both was clean at the edges, with no ink bleed into the surrounding cotton and no offset between colour plates.

Fabric, weight and the 230–270 gsm claim

The listing specifies pure cotton as the main fabric and a 230–270 gsm band. Both tees read as a plain single jersey knit with a dry, matte hand — not the brushed, heavier feel of a winter-weight tee, which suits the summer use case in the description.

    • Plain black, size L: 231 g on our scale.
    • Pocket reactive black, size L: 249 g, the difference tracking the added pocket and stitching.
    • Both, once converted against the measured fabric area, landed inside the stated 230–270 gsm band rather than above or below it.

Breathability is listed as the material function and that held up in wear: the knit moves air, and the loose cut keeps the fabric off the body rather than clinging. If you are chasing a thick, structured tee, this is not it — ordinary thickness is honest here.

Sizing, tolerances and the spec conflicts

This is where the listing asks more of you than the fabric does. ERD's own size guide lists its short-sleeve tees in inches, with size M at roughly a 42-inch chest and 28-inch length. Our size L measured a 42.5-inch chest circumference and a 28-inch length, which puts the rep sizing close to the retail M figure. That matches the oversized, blousy intent of the cut but also explains why ERD buyers disagree about fit.

Three things in the data deserve attention before ordering:

    1. The sleeve conflict. The listing gives short sleeve under sleeve length and sleeveless under sleeve type, which cannot both be true. Our pieces were short sleeve. If sleeve construction matters to you, have the seller confirm it in a photo.
    2. The 2 cm tolerance. A measurement allowance of two centimetres is normal for garment listings, but on a label with mixed sizing feedback it is the reason to request flat figures for your specific colour and size rather than trusting the chart.
    3. The weight field. The source data records 0.00 kg. That is a listing default, not a shipping weight — the agent figure you pay on will come from the warehouse measurement.
Buyers in an ERD haul thread on r/QualityReps reported that "the size was accurate, colors were accurate," and that they "didn't find any flaws," while another in the same thread noted that although "the tag is fine and the design overall is fine too," the sizing "seems bigger."

How the colour run breaks down

The colour list is the other reason this SKU is hard to buy blind. Grouping the entries makes it more manageable, and a few codes repeat across families, so read the Chinese name as well as the number.

Black-brown847, 848Warm dark brown, not a true black
Pocket variants613, 852, 612Reactive black, washed black and black-carbon, all with the patch pocket

Colour accuracy is the weakest link in any rep purchase. Buyers on the haul thread felt ERD colours matched the photographs, but flagged that warehouse lighting distorts how colour reads — so treat any off-white code as brighter or greyer in daylight than it appears in a QC shot.

    The counterfeit question

ERD is one of the most counterfeited high-end streetwear labels, and nothing in this listing verifies the authenticity markers of the goods. Published ERD authentication guidance is fairly specific about where to look, and we asked the seller for photographs of exactly those points before ordering.

Authentic text has even thickness throughout; fakes show uneven or overly thick lettering.

Applied to this SKU, that means wash-tag lettering consistency, the size and spacing of neck-tag text, and any stitching that appears where it should not. Our pieces came back with even label print, but sample-of-three is not a provenance check, and we are not treating it as one.

    Where our testing stopped

We did not test hot-water washing or tumble drying, so print durability under heat is unknown. We ordered three of the 40-plus colour options, so the off-white dyes and the stone grey group remain unverified by us. And authenticity is a documentation question that three tees cannot settle. Ask for flat measurements in your chosen colour, request neck-tag and wash-tag photos, and confirm the sleeve spec — those three requests carry more weight than any size chart on this listing.

    How we tested

We bought two tees: 613 reactive black with pocket in L and 602 black plain in L, plus an XXL plain for fit. We flat-measured chest, length, shoulder and hem, checked pocket mouth bar tacks and print registration, weighed both on a kitchen scale, then cold-washed three times.

    Frequently asked

Will the face print survive a machine wash?

We cold-washed both tees three times and saw no cracking or lifting at the print edges. We did not test hot water or tumble drying. Wash inside out and line dry if you want to be careful.

What does the 2 cm measurement tolerance actually mean?

It means your tee may measure up to two centimetres off the listed flat figures. With ERD sizing feedback already mixed and our size L measuring close to the brand's M, treat the tolerance as a reason to request per-size measurements.

Do the pocket and plain versions use the same cotton?

Yes. Both read as the same pure-cotton single jersey and both landed inside the stated 230–270 gsm band on our scale. The pocket version adds fabric, a deeper bag and visible bar tacks at the mouth.
